The trio evening »Jokers« featuring French accordion virtuoso Vincent Peirani, alongside Federico Casagrande (guitar) and Ziv Ravitz (drums), promises an energetic concert experience with a wealth of lively and distinctive sounds spanning jazz, rock and subtle electronic influences.
The pieces feel like snapshots from an imaginary film: rich in atmosphere, rhythmically striking and with a wide dynamic range. The accordion takes centre stage, yet its sound spectrum is expanded through the use of effects, and it constantly takes on new roles.
The title »Jokers« refers to a musical principle of fluidity: roles shift, structures remain open, and the interplay remains lively and surprising. The result is a programme that captivates with its immediate expressiveness.
In the historic machine hall of the Louise Briquette Factory in Domsdorf, the Lausitz Festival is continuing a tradition with this trio evening that began there five years ago with a performance by the singer Cécile McLorin Salvant. Since then, jazz in Domsdorf has enjoyed a particularly good reputation, not least because of the venue’s exceptional atmosphere.
Vincent Peirani
Like all popular music, jazz is associated with strong personalities. International recognition of accordionist Vincent Peirani rests on that essential, fundamental quality. His musical charisma and his very distinctive creative skills strike the listener immediately.
After brilliant studies in classical music, his dive into the world of jazz received the seal of success from the start and was crowned at the Victoires du Jazz in 2014 & 2015. Vincent Peirani has the ability to turn everything he touches into gold: in jazz, of course, but also in chanson, film music, and so on. Whatever the style, the public follows: in his performances, he creates a balance between the relatively straightforward and a blessed unexpectedness, with art music and popular music very close to each other.
