To accompany the dual exhibition in Bad Muskau and Cottbus, a screening of three of his short films, accompanied by live music, will take place at the Energiefabrik Knappenrode in the presence of the artist. The performers are three Brazilian musicians with whom de Andrade has collaborated on numerous occasions. The music was composed specifically for these short films.
The concert interweaves images and sounds in an inimitable way. Contemporary Brazilian art and music come together to create an experience that is as complex as it is wonderful.

»Jonathas de Andrade: The Fierce Shine of the Edges«, curated by Kobi Ben-Meir and Ulrike Kremeier, is an exhibition of the Lausitz Festival and the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLMK) in cooperation with the »Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau« Foundation.

Jonathas de Andrade
Jonathas de Andrade was born in 1982 in Maceió, and lives in Recife, Brazil. He represented Brazil at the 59th Venice Biennale, and has held solo exhibitions in prestigious museums, including MACRO, Rome; MAAT, Lisbon; New Museum, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; and the São Paulo Museum of Art. De Andrade’s work is held in institutional collections, such as Tate Modern, London; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Museo Nacional Reina Sofía, Madrid; Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
Homero Basílio
Homero Basílio was born in 1980 in Recife, Brazil. Basílio is a musician, composer, and music producer with over 25 years of professional experience, including 20 years as a percussionist with the Recife Symphony Orchestra. His work spans from maracatu and frevo to electronic, classical, and pop music, with productions for key Brazilian artists and film soundtracks.
Antônio Barreto
Antônio Barreto was born in 1962 in Recife, Brazil. He holds a master’s degree in orchestral performance from the Zurich University of the Arts. A former principal percussionist and timpanist of the Recife Symphony Orchestra, he is currently a professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco, a member of the instrumental group Sagrama, and a leading figure in percussion performance and education in Brazil.
Emerson Rodrigues
Emerson Rodrigues was born in 1996 in Chã de Alegria, and lives in Recife, Brazil. Rodrigues is a percussionist and cultural producer with a bachelor’s degree in percussion from at the Federal University of Pernambuco. A co-founder of Duo Repercuti, he began his musical training through the social programme Orquestra Criança Cidadã and has performed in national and international festivals and tours.
