With Bach and Schubert in the underground

A classical solo evening with accordion? But yes! The young, award-winning virtuoso João Barradas also plays music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert on his instrument. He charges Bach's cantata »Mein Jesu, was für Seelenweh« with the wordless, immediately touching emotionality of his resonant breathing instrument called the accordion, and those who naturally place Schubert's »Drei Klavierstücke« on a grand piano may also learn to appreciate this music anew in its intense, different sound.
Barradas also plays works by his compatriot Luís Tinoco, including »Mind The Gap«, musical notes from the underground originally composed for marimba, in which the famous London Underground becomes the source of inspiration for a piece full of fast-paced compositional ideas.
