Iris Berben, one of Germany’s finest and best-known television and film actresses, has received many awards – not only for her exceptional artistic talent, but also for her public stance against intolerance and anti-Semitism. For the Lausitz Festival, she will read from Alexander Granach’s autobiography, ‘Da geht ein Mensch’ [From the Shetl to the Stage], which tells the fascinating story of a Jewish peasant boy whose life took him from a Galician village to a celebrated career as a film star in both Germany and Hollywood.
