About the production

Start

An entertaining little travel game awaits passengers on the KunstBus on 16 August: the first Lusatian Metronome Derby (loosely based on György Ligeti). The game involves a handful of mechanical metronomes that tick at different speeds. As in Ligeti’s ‘Poème Symphonique’ (1962), a piece of mechanical music for 100 metronomes that will be performed at several venues as part of the Lausitz Festival, the question arises: whose metronome ticks the longest? No prior knowledge is required for the game, just a bit of dexterity. Join in the excitement! Tick along!! There are (small) prizes to be won!!!

Michael Höppner, Head of Dramaturgy at the Lausitz Festival Theatre and host of the game on the KunstBus, on the strict rules of the game: »Three to five metronomes will be handed out to volunteers among the passengers. The players start at the same time. Whoever’s metronome ticks the longest wins. Passengers not taking part can place bets on the metronomes. Winners of the derby and the bets receive a small prize donated by the Lausitz Festival.«

There will be one game per scheduled service on 15–16 August on the route through West Lusatia around Pulsnitz. As the tour passes one of this year’s festival venues, Michael Höppner will also talk about the production to be staged there and other festival highlights. Enjoy!
