Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky

About the production

Martha Argerich is often praised as the “queen of the piano”, an “inscrutable sphinx of the keyboard”, or “the high priestess of the piano” – every one of her performances is an experience. But of course words cannot describe her artistry, as she herself says, “Music tells us what no other language can.” Following her celebrated appearances in the festival’s first two seasons, we are delighted to welcome Martha Argerich (now more than 80 years old!) for an extraordinary concert in which she will perform chamber music with the distinguished cellist Mischa Maisky and, in Felix Mendelssohn’s Trio. Op. 49, flutist Susanne Barner.
