»Empusion« – Back in Basel and first time in Prague
After Forst, Cologne and Basel, »Empusion« will return to the Kleine Bühne in Basel from 15 November 2025 – for six performances. On 3 and 4 December 2025, the play will be a guest at the Prague German Language Theatre Festival.

The play – based on the novel of the same name by Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk – is a co-production with Theater Basel and Schauspiel Köln and was created in collaboration with Staatstheater Cottbus.
Empusion. What does it mean?
The word creation is composed of these two words:
Empusa is a female ghost in Greek mythology. Symposion was originally considered a casual gathering of men for extensive drinking and discussion.
