About the location
The population of the Lausitz region has fallen by more than 100,000 in recent years. Young people in particular have left, faced with a lack of jobs and the continuing decline of the coal industry. On the grounds of the former Telux factory (Telux was once the world’s largest producer of technical glass), artists and other socially engaged citizens are working to develop projects and concepts that encourage people to stay in Weißwasser or to return to the region. The goal is to make the Lausitz area so attractive that new residents will choose to live and work here.
