In 1703, Eugenio Casparini, organ builder for the Saxon Royal Court, completed his masterpiece, the magnificent solar organ in the oldest and largest church of its kind in Saxony. The Peterskirche, as it is known in Görlitz, was built on the walls of a castle church from the 11th century and has been the city’s official municipal church since 1372; the baptismal bell also dates from this period.

Accessibility
The church is situated on a hill, which makes access via the cobbled streets of the old town difficult. At the north entrance (106 cm), wheelchair access is possible via two mobile ramps, each 1 metre long with a 18% gradient.
The entrance at the south portal has steps and can be used with the assistance of a companion if necessary.
Parking
Paid parking is available at Obermarkt (approx. 14–16 minutes’ walk) or at the Altstadt car park.
Disabled parking spaces and short-stay parking spaces are available directly in front of the church. Alternatively, the CityCenter car park (approx. 20 minutes’ walk) is available.
Toilets
There are no toilet facilities inside the church. The nearest public, accessible toilet is located at Apothekergasse 2.
