The Lausitz Festival is presenting the Credo Prize for the first time. This non-monetary award honours individuals who base their artistic work on a deep conviction and a belief in the social significance of art.
Eligible for the award are active cultural practitioners who work in a part of the world that is of direct or indirect significance to Lusatia – whether geographically, historically, ideologically or in some other way.
The award ceremony itself is directly linked to an artistic performance. At the premiere to mark the opening of the festival on 25 August 2026 in the Church of St Peter and Paul in Görlitz, a »Credo« composed especially for the festival will be performed as part of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B minor. In future, a new »Credo« is to be premiered in parallel with the biennial award ceremony.
