»Hands free«: Works from the Hoffmann Collection Endowment

Threshold situations and moments of transition are common human experiences. The works shown here explore both visually and narratively our perceptions of such moments of awakening and »betweenfulness«. The exhibition takes its name from a video by Marijke van Warmerdam, »Met losse handen« [Hands free]. The film depicts the attempt to ride a bicycle without using hands as an uncertain but invigorating experience. In this sense, the works in the exhibition invite us to experience »betweenfulness’« as a place where insecurity can be infused with energy and a sense of liberation.
 

Tickets/admission: Tickets for the exhibition at a price of 5 € (from 18 years) are available at the Tourist Centre in the New Castle Bad Muskau.

Meeting point: Palace courtyard of the New Palace. Please purchase a ticket at the Tourism Centre in the New Palace before the tour begins. Registration deadline for the guided tours is 4 pm the day before.
