The Cottbus airport provided commercial service from the late 1920s to 1933 and was then used exclusively for military purposes until 1982. Today, Hangar 5 is used for special projects by the Staatstheater Cottbus and was the setting for “Antigone Europa”, a sensuous theatre performance directed by Filip Markiewicz for the Lausitz Festival in 2020.
