The roots of Brandenburg Technical University go back to 1946, when the State Engineering School was founded. With a series of changing names, the school was primarily responsible for the training of construction engineers. The opening of the university’s Cottbus campus in 1991 coincided with an expansion and diversification of the curriculum. Today the university’s four departments offer courses in Natural Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Science.
